your First Visit

Hello! After you have submitted your appointment request, you’ll receive text and email notifications about your appointment. 3 days before your appointment a text and email confirmation will go out. Please confirm your appointment via text so I know you’ll make it. If any changes need to be made, please do so at that point or before.

During your first appointment, we get additional time together to really delve into your goals, what your love about your hair, and your struggles so we can work through it together.

Using a combination of precise dry curl cutting techniques, I will meticulously create a custom haircut tailored to your unique preferences. I will thoroughly work through each section, and then carefully curl by curl to ensure that the final result aligns perfectly with your goals, lifestyle, and desired look.

My ultimate goal is to guide you through your natural texture journey so you can really love your curls. It truly is a journey, as we are constantly changing and evolving, so do the needs of our hair.

I cannot wait to meet you!

How to prepare for your first appointment

  • I prefer for your curls to be less than 3 days since your last shampoo. Any longer than that, and your curl pattern won’t be accurately represented.

  • I see this often, and although we do what we can if the hair is still damp, it does make it more difficult to prevent elongation as I’m cutting and predict where they’ll land once it’s restyled. I would rather see dirtier hair, than damp clean hair.

  • The absolute most important thing, is that I’m able to see your curls how they normally live. Please arrive with curls that have dried down and natural. Use as much product as you want, if that’s how you usually style your hair, but do not put it in a pony, clips, pins or braids. This may result in the additional fee and time of styling out your hair first, or rescheduling your appointment and a rebooking fee if time doesn’t allow a style out before your cut.

  • This is a judgement free, safe space! We all deal with matting and severe tangling sometimes for many different reasons. If you’re unable to prepare your hair adequately before your appointment, please let me know or add the detangling treatment to your service when booking. If you already have an appointment booked, reach out and we’ll either book out more time to help you with this, or schedule for another time that allows for it.

  • Please don’t be embarrassed! Dandruff is a common problem, and I see lots of different types of dandruff. Bring it up during your appointment, I’ll assess your scalp, and we’ll come up with a treatment plan to help.
